About the Mentor-Mentee Program

Welcome to the AFP-NNE Mentor-Mentee Program!

“AFP exists to foster the development and growth of fundraising professionals and the profession, to promote high ethical behavior in the fundraising profession and to preserve and enhance philanthropy and volunteerism.” (From the AFP Global mission statement

This program compliments the other AFP-NNE professional development programs by providing for the specific needs of Mentees and utilizing the volunteer talents of our more experienced AFP-NNE members as Mentors.

In 2018 AFP-NNE launched the Mentor-Mentee Program to support the AFP goals above by providing opportunities for new and novice development professionals to strengthen their fundraising skills with one-on-one guidance and support from more experienced AFP members.

“This program is a first-rate opportunity for mentors and mentees to learn from one another and grow together as professionals. Building a mentor-mentee relationship is a microcosm for a wide range of the professional skills we are meant to develop with our colleagues, our boards, and our constituents and donors. Thank you, AFP-NNE, for offering us an opportunity to revisit these basics in our trusting partnerships.”

Amanda Preston, 2019 and 2020 Mentor – Principal, Amanda Preston Consulting, Andover, MA

“I can't express with words the blessing Amanda has been for me and the organization. Amanda's talent to mentor has given me a tremendous benefit, especially during this thought time. As a start-up non-profit, the right guidance was crucial for us to continually develop and strive towards achieving our goals.”

Angel Galvis, 2020 Mentee - Founder & CEO, Mission Life, Inc, Manchester, NH
